Odoo module upgrades, done for you
How to avoid Odoo's 25% surcharge: upgrade before it hits
From April 2026, running Odoo more than three versions behind the latest release costs 25% extra at renewal. There's really only one clean way to avoid it: get onto a covered version before the surcharge applies to your contract.
The steps
- Check your renewal date. Contracts renewed before 4 July 2025 are grandfathered until the term ends; after that, the 25% applies while you're on an unsupported version.
- Request an upgraded test database from Odoo. Their service handles core data and standard apps.
- Port your custom modules to the target version โ Odoo won't do this part, and it's usually what stalls the whole upgrade.
- Test, then cut over before your renewal lands in the surcharge window.
The step that actually blocks people
Nine times out of ten the upgrade stalls on porting the custom module: a removed attrs=, a renamed method, JavaScript the new web client rejects. Send us that module. We port it up to four versions forward, test it live, and hand it back working for $50.

Common questions
What's the deadline to avoid the Odoo surcharge?
The surcharge starts April 2026, but what matters is your renewal date โ if you renew onto an unsupported version after 4 July 2025, the 25% applies. Upgrading before then avoids it.
Do I have to upgrade everything at once?
No. The blocker is usually one custom module. We port modules one at a time, so you can clear the upgrade path piece by piece before your renewal.
