an abundance of strawberries

About

Why the weird domain?

The goal here is a bit silly. To make enough money to buy all the strawberries I want when they're in season — and to get there by taking a job you genuinely hate off your hands. Yes, that's the actual goal. Strawberries are not that expensive, nor is the service. If many people like this, it might turn into a small business. If not, perhaps I still have enough money to buy the strawberries I want.

Everywhere you look in software right now, someone is raising an absurd amount of money to change the world. That's fine. It's just not this. This is a small, honest business with a small, honest ambition: do one annoying thing really well, charge a fair price for it, and buy a lot of strawberries.

The annoying thing

Odoo moves forward. Your custom module doesn't. So every couple of years a version goes end-of-life, something breaks, and you're staring down a chore nobody enjoys — or a quote from a partner that costs more than the module ever did. It's the kind of work that's fiddly, thankless, and easy to keep putting off.

We just do it. You send us the one module you're stuck on. We move it to a newer version, fix everything the jump broke, test it until it's green, and hand you a live instance to try. If it works — and you'll see for yourself that it does — it's $50 to download. You try before you pay. Always.

How we can do it for that

Honestly? Most of the tedium here is mechanical — the same handful of things break on every upgrade, in predictable ways. We built a machine that handles that grunt work end to end and tests the result properly, so the price can be small and the quality doesn't have to be. We're not cutting corners; we're cutting the boring parts. What reaches you is a module that installs, loads, and passes its tests — with a plain list of everything we changed.

We'll also tell you, for free and straight away, when something isn't a $50 job — a module leaning on paid add-ons, or a whole database that needs migrating. That's a bigger piece of work, and we'd rather say so than pretend.

Who's behind it

Me — . Seven years deep in Odoo and close to twenty in enterprise software systems — including the very important, very delicate financial ones, where a rounding error isn't a rounding error. I've done this migration work the slow, painful way plenty of times. This is the same work, minus the pain, for you.
